Central Avenue Bridge Now Open

The Central Avenue Bridge is now officially open for public use. The bridge provides an additional entryway to Harbor Point from locations to the north, greatly increasing the flow of traffic and ease of access to the neighborhood.

The opening marks the completion of the first phase of construction, which features two-way vehicle access connecting to Lancaster Street, as well as a continuation of the waterfront promenade for bike and pedestrian access. Additional traffic lanes are still under construction as part of a second phase, scheduled to be completed later this year.

Speaking during the grand opening ceremony on Monday morning, Jonathan Flesher, Vice President of Development for Beatty Development said. “This bridge is a new beginning. A new connection to the hustle and bustle of Harbor East that will do nothing less than knit Harbor Point into the fabric of the rest of the City.”
