Sustainability
We are committed to growing a green community! Harbor Point will be Baltimore’s first true “eco-district;” a concept that expands on the idea of making individual buildings environmentally friendly (based on the U.S. Building Council’s LEED Program) by engineering these qualities into the entire neighborhood.
Efficient, dense 27-acre neighborhood with three million square feet of retail, residential, hotel, and office uses, as well as 9.5 acres of park and public spaces.
Require all buildings to be designed to at least LEED Silver standards.
Encourage environmentally conscious and sensitive design decisions.
Minimize resource use per building.
Promote the responsible use of water resources, including stormwater management and smart irrigation systems.
Coordinate with Waste Neutral to convert food waste generated at Harbor Point into soil that is used by local farms.
Provide easy access to a range of alternative transportation options.
Maintain a living shoreline along the majority of the water’s edge, providing a natural habitat for local plants and wildlife.
Tap into the waterfront promenade to create a more walkable community.
