FAQ: What to Expect When Construction Starts
Phase III is kicking off soon at Harbor Point! It represents the most ambitious phase of development yet, with three different parcels set to start on Parcel 3 and Parcel 4 in the first quarter of 2022. Here’s what you can expect once the construction starts.
What are the hours for construction during the week?
Construction hours are tentatively scheduled to be Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Should weather delay work during the week, construction may occur on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Any changes or updates to the construction hours will be posted to the Harbor Point construction updates page.
What noise can neighbors, residents, and tenants expect to hear?
Typical of waterfront development in Baltimore, Parcel 3 and Parcel 4 will be constructed on steel piles. As a result, neighbors will hear loud pounding sounds during the pile driving process.
How will traffic be affected?
There will be construction truck traffic on Caroline Street. As construction progresses, road closures may potentially occur on Central Avenue, Point Street, Dock Street, and Wills Street. Most closures will be temporary and will not require vehicles to be detoured. In the event that diversion is required, the traffic will be clearly routed on the appropriate roads. 24-hour notice will be provided for road closures and will be posted to the Harbor Point construction updates page.
Where are the Harbor Point workers parking?
The limited resident parking is being taken to into consideration and the development team is working with the contractor to identify areas for the workers to park, including City and commercial garages, as well as on-site.
How is the air quality on-site being monitored?
A comprehensive design and air monitoring plan will be utilized for the duration of construction at Harbor Point. Air monitoring results will be collected in real-time and posted on the Harbor Point air monitoring page the next business day.
How is the site being blocked off from the public? Is there security during non-work hours?
Construction fencing will surround the site. A security guard will be present 24/7, in addition to video surveillance.
